Exciting line up for the 2018 Chief Officers’ Conference 25/10/2018 Labelled as Development, Scrutiny, Tenants

We have an exciting line up of key speakers at this year's Chief Officers' Conference, including senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and the Housing Regulator.

 

We will hear from Jane Everton, Deputy Director (Social Housing) at MHCLG and lead official on the Social Housing Green Paper, on the next steps following close of the consultation period.

 

Terrie Alafat, Chief Executive at the Chartered Institute of Housing will speak on how the CIH intends to shape the future of social housing and respond to calls in the Green Paper for the housing service to become more professional.

 

The Social Housing Regulator will speak on the future of regulation post Grenfell and what councils might expect in light of the Green Paper proposals for stronger regulation.

 

Rebecca Shrubsole, Deputy Director at MHCLG responsible for council housing and Right to Buy will outline the next steps in the government's plans for "a new generation of council housing" following the scrapping of the HRA borrowing cap.

 

Other sessions will examine the practical problems in implementing the Hackitt Review's recommendations on fire safety in high rise blocks and the future of resident engagement and how to tackle stigma
