Good practice in tenant engagement – invitation to TPAS roundtable events 02/08/2018 Labelled as Tenants

On behalf of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) and the Local Government Association (LGA), tenants and officers from ARCH member councils are invited to take part in a number ofroundtable eventsto discussgood practice in tenant engagementand to complete an online our survey.

TPAS has partnered with the LGA to investigate, capture and report on good practice in tenant engagement delivered by councils across the country. ARCH is keen to support the project to highlight the good practice in engagement delivered by local authorities.

Engagement is changing at pace within organisations and across the sector. The pressures of welfare reform, regulation, supply, affordability, stigma, isolation and value for money, amongst others, will all have an impact on how organisations can, and could, deliver successful engagement in the future.

Now is a critical and unique time as we await the Social Housing Green Paper that could shape an offer for residents for years to come. These events are timely given the Green Paper and will help inform the discussion and response to the Green Paper.

Each roundtable will be chaired and facilitated by TPAS and will last for two hours to give time for a robust discussion and a thorough appraisal of engagement. TPAS is hoping to have between 20-25 participants at each roundtable with staff and tenants from councils and ALMOs.

The dates and locations of the roundtable events are as follows:

  • Thursday 2nd August, Oxford City Council, Rosehill Community Centre Carole's Way, Rose Hill, Oxford, OX4 4HF
  • Monday 6th August, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby, North Yorkshire, YO8 9FT
  • Tuesday 7th August, South Cambridgeshire District Council, South Cambridgeshire Hall, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambridge CB23 6EA

Irrespective of whether you are able to attend one of the roundtable events, ARCH member councils are also invited to complete an online survey which should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

Closing date for completion of the survey is 13th August 2018 and TPAS is offering a free essential review to one organisation, who will be picked at random from the completed surveys.

Tenants can also share their experiences by completing an individual tenant/resident survey.

A full report will be produced that will be shared across the sector and TPAS expects to include a number of good practice case studies and your organisation could be one of those included.

If you are interested in attending one of the roundtable events, you can book your place by contacting Leanne Farrell at TPAS (Leanne.farrell@tpas.org.uk )
