The Government has issued an invitation for expressions of
interest from social housing landlords to participate in a Social
Sector (Building Safety) Engagement Best Practice Group.
Paragraph 33 of the Social Housing Green Paper outlined the
Government's commitment to establish a pilot with a small group of
social landlords, which will work closely with residents to develop
best practice in communicating and engaging with residents on
safety issues.
The pilot Group will be known as the Social Sector (Building
Safety) Engagement Best Practice Group and the Government is
inviting expressions of interest from social housing landlords to
participate in the Group.
The purpose of the pilot Group will be to help identify how
landlords and residents can best work together to ensure buildings
are safe to live in and to develop best practice and options for
how residents will be made aware of their role in ensuring their
own safety.
Government is particularly interested in applications from
social landlords, which include proposals to nominate a resident to
be part of the Group.
Further details of the aims and expected outputs of the Group
and the information Government is looking for from those who wish
to apply are available on the Government website.
The closing date for applications is 2 December 2018 -
extended from the original closing date of 19 November
2018.
