Social Housing Decarbonisation: BEIS research 24/09/2020 Labelled as Development

We have previously drawn ARCH member councils' attention to the Government's £50m Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).

The Department of Business, Enterprise & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is now looking for local authorities to take part in research on energy efficiency improvements to social housing and social housing retrofit.

The research project will seek to understand the current state of the social housing stock in England, as well as how, when and why social housing landlords make energy efficient improvements to their properties. BEIS also wants to understand how tenants are engaging with social housing retrofit.

Councils taking part in this research will have the opportunity to share their views on retrofit and say how any future funding through the SHDF would best benefit both landlords and tenants.

We will be writing to the lead officers at each of our member councils with more details of the research and would encourage all ARCH member councils to take part.

Any ARCH member council interested in taking part in this research should contact ARCH Chief Executive John Bibby ( ) with the name and contact details of the council's lead officer.
