Universal Credit: Information for landlords 06/12/2018 Labelled as Development, Consultation, Finance, Tenants

Following the recent meeting with Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) Minister Justin Tomlinson, ARCH has been invited by DWP officials to join the DWP's "Social Rented Sector Universal Credit Strategic Landlord Group" and we are working with the DWP to support the Department's campaign to reach out to both social and private rental sector landlords to provide information about Universal Credit that will help them support their tenants.

DWP has developed a new suite of information for landlords to raise awareness and understanding of Universal Credit and help landlords and their staff support their tenants in applying for Universal Credit, including:

  • What Universal Credit means for landlords
  • What landlords need to do
  • How landlords can help their tenants

Information includes a new "top tips guide" and new videos explaining key aspects of Universal Credit - all of which can be found on the DWP Understanding Universal Credit website for landlords.

We would urge ARCH member councils to look at the new products and updated information on the DWP website and share them with your staff through your own communication channels.
