ARCH Chair, Cllr Kim Caddy and Chief Executive, John Bibby are
to meet the new Housing Minister, Kit Malthouse along with the
Chair and Managing Director of the National Federation of ALMOs
(NFA) in October.
Immediately following his appointment as Housing Minister on 9
July 2018, as we have done with the previous four Housing Ministers
following their appointments, we wrote jointly with the NFA to
welcome the new Minister and to seek a meeting with him.
ARCH Chief Executive also wrote to the Minister on 30 July 2018
to draw his attention to our report "Raising the
Roof", following comments he made regarding
"under-utilised" HRA borrowing headroom.
Following the announcement of the HRA Borrowing Programme, the
decision to abandon the High Value Asset Levy and the recently
issued consultation on use of Right to Buy receipts, we hope to
convince the Minister that with even greater freedoms, stock
retained councils can do more to meet the need for social housing
and help fix the broken housing market.
