In a
previous bulletin, we announced we were working with the
Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), Chartered Institute of Public
Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the National Federation of
ALMOs (NFA) to influence government policy and make the case for
council housing.
Together, the four organisations have put together a well-argued
case for flexibilities in government policy to be applied at
individual local authority level, which has the potential to
unleash HRA resources that otherwise will go unused to support the
building of more homes.
Housing Minister, Gavin Barwell, has listened to the case we
made and has invited officials from ARCH, CIPFA, CIH and NFA to
meet with officials from the Department for Communities and Local
Government to discuss our proposals further.
We'll keep ARCH members posted on developments.
